13 (more or less) things about me

1. I like to read. A lot. It makes my husband crazy.

2. I make the very best cheesecake in the entire world.

3. I deleted three because it was dumb, and now can’t think of a third thing.  It’s early.  See: coffee, below.  Not much thought going on here yet.

4. I’m really annoyed that it hasn’t snowed much this winter (two winters running now). On the plus side, my four five year old can tell people all about global warming, impressing them with his precociousness.

5. I have a coffee habit. I call it blessed (you say the “ed” on that - bless-ed, not just regular old blessed sounding like “blest”. It’s important to say it right to get the correct tone of reverence) life-giving coffee. Without coffee, I am pretty much nothing.

6. I have been attending college on and off for ten years and I don’t feel any closer to graduation then I did ten years ago. It’s sort of embarassing.   Thankfully, I now have a plan in place, I should be done in 18 months, and I feel really, really good about it.

7. I am the oldest of four kids, three girls and one boy.

8. I used to be a pretty good poet, but my poetry genes appear to have shriveled up and blown away within the past 5 years.

9. I have mom sneakers (similar to the link). They were only $18 and I needed new shoes, so I bought them, but now my feet make me feel old and ashamed every time I go anywhere.  I am pleased to announce that I have NORMAL sneakers now, and the mom ones have retired.  They were freaking awful.

10. I really need 10 hours of sleep a night to feel 100%. Most nights I get 6 hours. I haven’t been 100% in a while.  I changed shifts at work, and now I am finally getting enough sleep, and it is fantastic.

11. Even though I haven’t been a teenager in a long time, I can still sleep til noon.

12. I make really awful beef stew.

13. My favorite number is 4, my favorite colors are green and pink, I’m right-handed, and my favorite flower alternates between peonies and tiger lilies.  (Edit: I found out that these are not tiger lilies.  They actually have the much-lovelier name “ditch lilies” because they grow in ditches.  That’s imagination in use, people.)

14. Because this is apparently the most-read page on my blog, I’m making this more than 13.

15. I have been married for almost 4 years and my son is a bit over 5. Yes, I like to do things a little backwards.

16. Like Mimi Smartypants, I have reverse body dysmorphic disorder. Or something. I feel like I look all hot and then I look in the mirror and say to myself “Oh, shit, you are so wrong with that whole hotness thing. You look like a Macy’s Day Parade float with a fright wig and mom jeans.”

17. If my food contains some form of tomato, garlic, and olive oil, I’m content. Add some good bread and I’ll commit unspeakable acts for you.

18. I have a thing for pink books and will choose a stack of library books based solely upon their pinkness.

  1. I heart you.

  2. No seriously, we could be the same person (except for the mom shoes, thing. Im sorry.)
    MY wedding flower? PEONIES.
What I had for dinner last nite? GARLIC TOMATO AND OLIVE OIL. (it was in a pizza…you get my drift)
Pink Books? Well, I dont have any, but I love PINK. I know. Its scary.

  3. Dude. We are soul mates. I will have to get you into the pink books, too.
You don’t need to love the mom shoes - I hate them, actually. I hate them so much I’ve been wearing fake Crocs to work lately, because at least they’re not mom sneakers.

  4. Hey! I’m so glad that you commented on my blog about the TTV shooting. It is really cool how things intersect like that. I always like how that happens, makes me feel like the world isn’t so big, and I’m not so alone.

I love you blog. Your writing is just great. And it seems like we have a ton in common. For instance, I believe I would whither and die without coffee. AND, whats more! We have tons of ditch lillies where I live, and I am constantly beggin’ my fiance to pull over so I can collect them.

Oh, and I thought I would tell you how I came by learning how to shoot TTV: I came across a link on dooce. I’m so glad you husband came up with this awesome form of photography! IT is so fascinating and fun to work with.
